Many customers do use distributors like Charles River for our mice but your institution can absolutely order its own mice. Pricing for our services will vary from Charles River, however.
If your institution has a JAX account number, the process is very simple. The web order forms are processed quickly by our Global Distribution team when received. If your institution does not have a JAX account, I will link the application form below for your convenience:
https://www.jax.org/jax-mice-and-services/customer-support/customer-service/become-a-customer
Once you submit your application it will take 5-7 business days to process. The submitter will be contacted with the account number once the account is created in our system.
When it comes to costs, there are a number of considerations.
Cost of the mice.
Documentation Fee - $197.00
Shipping Box - $13.00 (holds up to 10 mice)
Shipping Costs: Offered one of two ways.
Institution delivery (DAP): The current cost to deliver to your institution in Osaka, Japan is $4600 for the 1st box and $200 for each additional box in a single shipment, plus import duties and taxes, which will be billed separately by our clearance agent.
Destination Airport Delivery (DAT): The current cost to deliver to the airport terminal in Kyoto, Japan is $575 for the 1st box and $175 for each additional box in a single shipment. This cost does not include clearance, taxes, or transportation beyond the airport.
やはり空港まで動物を受け取りに行く必要はありそうですが、費用はかなり抑えられそうです。遺伝子改変マウスの輸入に伴う法令上の手続きなど、知らずに怠ってしまうような事態が心配ですが。 |
